"Modeling, Designing, and Testing Correct, Secure, and Dependable Event-Based Systems"

Theme and Goals

Many software-intensive IT systems consist of components that react to and communicate via events. Such event-based systems are increasingly used in environments that rely on dependable software and systems. Many of these systems are based on components, which may partly be written after the system has been shipped, such as plug-ins.Thus the specification, development, simulation and test of correct, secure, and dependable event-based IT systems gains importance in the software engineering research community. However, the modeling of the behavior and of non-functional properties of dependable event-based systems in general is far from being solved.
Goals of the workshop are in the scope of the ARES conference to discuss:

  • Differences between event-driven, component-based, and ?conventional? systems;
  • Approaches to model Event-Driven Architectures and their quality properties;
  • Best-practice approaches for testing Event-Driven Systems;
  • Run-time behaviours of conventionally designed and event-driven systems;
  • Maintainability of event-driven systems (e.g., adaptability to changes in the environment).

  • Dependability aspects for special applications (e.g. ERP-systems, logistics)
  • Industry experience reports on software engineering aspects of software-based systems with dependability as success-critical product quality aspect.

Submission Guidelines

Submit a full paper of at most 8 pages (IEEE Computer Society Proceedings Manuscripts style: two columns, single-spaced), including figures and references, using 10 fonts, and number each page. You can confirm the IEEE Computer Society Proceedings Author Guidelines at this IEEE web page.

Contact author must provide the following information to the workshop chairs: paper title, authors' names, affiliations, postal address, phone, fax, and e-mail address of the author(s), about 200-250 word abstract, and about five keywords. Prepare your paper in PDF file and send it to the workshop chairs.

Submission of a paper implies that should the paper be accepted, at least one of the authors will register and present the paper in the conference. Accepted papers will be given guidelines in preparing and submitting the final manuscript(s) together with the notification of acceptance.
